Université de Liège. Cours de Zoologie donné par Mr. (Edouard) Van Beneden. Manuscript student manuscript zoology lectures by female student Camille Legros 1883, 264 pp. Text in French.
An extensive student manuscript recording the zoology lectures of International famous professor Edouard van Beneden (1846-1910), professor of Zoology at the University of Liege (Luik), he succeeded the entomologist Jean Theodore Lacordaire. The university's Édouard van Beneden Institute of Zoology was named in his honour, as was the Quai Édouard van Beneden in Liège. He is best known for his pioneering research in cell biology, fertilisation and meiosis, particularly through his studies of the chromosomes of the roundworm Ascaris. Richly illustrated manuscript with original coloured anatomical drawings, it offers a rare insight into the teaching of zoology at the University of Liège.
Half leather binding with some wear on the extremities. Spine with gilt text: 'Ed. van Bededen: Cours de Zoologie, 1882-1883, Camille Legros'. Interior complete and illustrated with coloured handmade drawings. Text in French. 23,5 x 17 cm.
