Original printed boards with dustjacket. Beautiful decorated end leaves in yellow and red.
Signed in pen by Wanda Gag on the verso side of the upper fly leaf.
Snippy and Snappy is a children's book about how two little field mice, ventured forth one day in search of cheese, and were rescued by their father just as they were about to investigate a mouse trap. Wanda Hazel Gág (1893 1946) was the eldest daughter of a pair of German immigrant artists, and "was one of the great pioneering printmakers and illustrators of the first half of the twentieth century" (Philadelphia Museum of Art). She is most noted for writing and illustrating the children's book Millions of Cats which won a Newbery Honor Award and the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award. It is the oldest American picture book still in print. Snippy and Snappy was her third children's book.
