One of the most bizarre books in economic history, showing the Stock exchange disaster of 1720 in 75 caricatural plates with 81 engravings
Folio (370 x 260 mm). [II], 25, [1] p., plate 1-65, [8]p., plate 66-73, engraved index leaf; 52; 31, [1]; [II], 10; [II], 9, [1]; [II], 10; [II], 10 pages.

With 75 plates (20 fold, 41 double-page, 14 full page) containing 81 stunning engravings, including the dwarfs and the playing cards. Title page printed in red and black.

Vellum laced case binding blind tooled. On the covers a double fillet border with central a large arabesque plate.
A very desiarable copy, possibly composed later in the 18th century by a collector selecting the best plates he could get hand on. The plates are in good impressions on strong paper mostly with ample margins. The 5 text parts fit in the first edition, state d according to Forrer, but the engraved index with 73 numbers indicates a later composition of this copy. The order of the plates is mostly according to the engraved index.

Between and within the editions, copies vary significantly due to the amendment, addition, and subtraction of existing plates, as well as due to the resetting of text leaves. No two copies are alike, and some omission and deviation of material is standard. In our copy for example plate 18 in our index leaf (= Muller 18, the first state of plate 27), is not present, but plate Muller 17B and Muller 29A not menitoned in the index leaf, are present.

Below followes a detailed record of this copy, the numbers according to Muller. Plates not conform the index leaf are printed bold:

Conditien (part a); 1b, 2, 3 (variant, not mentioned by Muller, with added 3 columns engraved text in German= Van Rijn 3457C, not seen by Van Rijn, mentioned in list Stephens, cat. British Museum, note 1623), 4a, 5, 6, 7a, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12c, 13, 14, 15, 16a, 17a, 17b (not mentioned in our index leaf), 19, 20, 21, 22b, 23, 24, 25a, 26a, 29a (Not mentioned in our index leaf, containing dwarfs 5-8), 27b, 28, 46a (our index no. 29), 30, 31, 32, 33, 34a, 35a, 36, 37a, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42a, 43, 44, 45, 72a (our index no 46), 47, 48, 49, 50, 51b (with the verses of F.
