Unrecorded almanac with a record of the Battle of Waterloo
Nieuwen Antwerpschen almanach, voór het jaer ons Heere 1817. Inhoudende het verhael van den Slag van Charleroy, Flerus, Waterloo, Wavre etc. voórgevallen den 15, 16, 17 en 18 juny 1815. Het verhael van den vermaerden zee-slag voór Algiers, in Afrika. Antwerpen, F.A. Van De Ven, [1816]. Small 8vo (105 x 67 mm). [A]8 B-D8 [E]4.

Flexible wrapper, covered with stencil coloured woodblock paper with flowers. Stabbed.
Unrecorded year. The series Nieuwen antwerps(ch)en almanach is first recorded for 1725, edited by Jan Slegers. At some date it is edited by F.A. Van De Ven, of which here is offered the only known copy with this imprint. The series is recorded with the imprint J.N. Vinck and Wed. J.N. Vinck for 1821 and 1823, and from 1824-1842 (with gaps) with the imprint Josephus Thys.

After the calendar follows one page with the tides, than a section with a list of the officials of Antverp. This is followed by the record of the battle of Waterloo and Algiers announced on the title page. At the end is an unsigned songbook gathering of 4 leaves entitled Belachelyk liedeken, on the melody of "van den Ezel van Ryssel".
